This premium tasting starts at 6pm with FIVE brilliant wines and a lineup of superlative Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Senses Wines is the dream of three childhood friends. Chris, Max and Myles partnered with critically acclaimed winemaker, Thomas Rivers Brown, to produce world-class wines from renowned vineyards owned by their families. Since founding in 2011, Senses production has grown to include many coveted vineyard sites throughout northern California.

The Senses estate vineyards are located in the West Sonoma Coast region of Sonoma County, specifically in the small town of Occidental where the three founders grew up.

Vintage:

Many are hailing the 2018 vintage as a return to “normal” as the vintage was com- paratively calm, cool, and late. The year began with a relatively warm February before giving way to a cold spring and moderate growing conditions throughout the season. The moderate temperatures continued into harvest allowing for full phenolic ripe- ness to develop and the luxury of picking the grapes when they were mature rather than trying to beat the heat. We expect the 2018 wines to showcase as one of the best vintages in the twenty-teens.

Wine:

The 2018 Russian River Valley Chardonnay is an exciting addition to our lineup. We’re excited to feature some of our best Chardonnay vineyards in this bottling. It has more power than our Sonoma Coast but similar texture and balance. Fragrant notes of white flower jump out of the glass while hints of pear and peach bounce on the palate. The wine’s richness is moderated by its texture and smooth finish. Lemon zest and minerality complement the finish.

SENS3S "Heintz Vineyard"
Chardonnay 2018
Our retail price: $82

Vintage:

Many are hailing the 2018 vintage as a return to “normal” as the vintage was comparatively calm, cool, and late. The year began with a relatively warm February before giving way to a cold spring and moderate growing conditions throughout the season. The moderate temperatures continued into harvest allowing for full phenolic ripeness to develop and the luxury of picking the grapes when they were mature rather than trying to beat the heat. We expect the 2018 wines to showcase as one of the best vintages in the twenty-teens.

Vineyard:

The Heintz family has owned the ranch for over 100 years. Ideal Goldridge soil, healthy, mature vines, warm days balanced with cool nights and a grower who has been working the land since 1982 all contribute to Robert Parker’s assessment of the vineyard as “...one of the great grand cru Chardonnay sites in California.”

Wine:

Another classic Charles Heintz production. The 2018 vintage has that white floral, jasmine, and honey-suckle nose we simply can’t get enough of. Add classic tropical fruit with hints of pineapple, quince, and a subtle zest on the palate and you’re really starting to understand this vineyard. A very pleasant acidity and phenomenal texture bring out a beautiful and lingering finish. This wine is among our smoothest and most rewarding, another reason we love it.

Wine:

The 2018 Russian River Valley Pinot noir is another favorite. We capture intense flavors from vines that produce some of the best Pinot noir in Sonoma County and blend it into this wine. It’s also our most approachable Pinot noir when opened young. Bright red cherry notes jump out of the glass and the palate is almost juicy. Think fresh raspberries and hints of baking spice. Moderate acidity, fine tannins, and a beautiful texture round out this wine.

Wine:

The 2018 Sonoma Coast Pinot noir is one of our classics. We find the coast to produce more concentrated red wines that evolve wonderfully with time. Earth, dark red fruits, and elegance define this wine. Hints of lavender, black cherry, and floral greet the nose while dusty soil, red currant, and blackberry flavors dance on the palate. The wine is soft, thanks to the fine-grained tannins, yet is incredibly vibrant. Layers of flavors integrate with spice, acidity, and a gentle perfume on the finish. This is a very beautiful winea

SENS3S "Terra de Promissio"
Pinot Noir 2017
Our retail price: $82

Vintage:

In 2017, vines leapt into action with replenished water tables after years of drought. Early vegetative growth was strong, but not excessive, and crop yields were moderate. Warmer summer temperatures ended up compressing harvest for most. The coast was relatively protected from strong heat waves and delivered typical acid-driven fruit with great phenolic ripeness. Vineyard Known as “The Land of Promise”, Terra de Promissio has an ideal terroir for Pinot noir. The soil, southwest sun exposure, hill elevation, vine density and the wind and fog of the Petaluma Gap allow the grapes to have a slow maturation & extended hang time, which allows optimum ripeness ideal conditions for Pinot noir.

Wine:

“Pale to medium ruby, the 2017 Pinot Noir Terra de Promissio Vineyard opens with savory notes of charcuterie, olive and woodsmoke, giving way to exotic spices, licorice, dried leaves and blackberries. Medium-bodied, it’s very savory in the mouth with lots of smoky spice, lifted by juicy acidity and finishing long.” - Erin Brooks, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
