Château Rouget Pomerol 2016
Description
Varietal: Made from a blend of Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%) grapes, grown on the estate's clay and gravel soils. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted before undergoing fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 18-20 months in French oak barrels, of which 60% are new.
Taste: Chateau Rouget Pomerol 2016 has a deep, ruby red color in the glass. On the nose, there are notes of black cherry, blackcurrant, and vanilla, with a hint of cedar and tobacco. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with well-structured tannins and flavors of dark fruit, chocolate, and spice. The finish is long and persistent, with a touch of minerality. This wine is approachable now but will continue to improve with age.
