Weingut Kruger-Rumpf "Abtei 1937" Riesling Erstes Gewachs Trocken 2020

The Abtei 1937 name for this Riesling combines the year, 1937, in which the vines were planted and Saint Hildegard, a Benedictine abbess and polymath from the area that is credited as the founder of scientific natural history in Germany.

Varietal: Riesling from 80+ year old vines growing in Phyllite soil (basically mica inflected slate); Vineyard is a south facing site in Bingerbrück in Rupertsburg, the most northern, south facing parcel in the Nahe Region.

Taste: A truly unique wine that has a golden hue in the glass and a nose that is fruit forward with a streak of minerality and a lovely bouquet of white flowers. Additional wild herbs and flower nuances upon swirling with hints of honey. Stunning concentration, combined with a feeling of weightlessness and notes of green apple, and citrus. Long balanced finish that highlights crushed rocks.
