Domaine Tortochot's Mazis-Chambertin 2019 is a wine that truly embodies the essence of the Cote de Nuits. This grand cru red Burgundy is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown on the steep slopes of Mazis-Chambertin, one of the most prestigious vineyards in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation.
The wine has a beautiful ruby-red color with purple hues and an intense bouquet of black cherry, blackberry, and wild raspberry, complemented by hints of violet, tobacco, and spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and well-structured with silky tannins and a long, persistent finish.
The winemaking process for this wine is traditional, with fermentation taking place in open vats with daily punch-downs to extract maximum color and flavor. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 18 to 20 months, allowing it to develop its complex aromas and flavors.
