Kongsgaard Napa Valley Chardonnay 2019
Varietal: Chardonnay from Hudson and Hyde vineyards in Los Carneros AVA. Low-intervention winemaking by John Kongsgaard is modeled after traditional European practices. They avoid adding yeast and bacteria to the wine, and do long elevages in oak with little or no added SO2. At bottling, fining and filtration are avoided in their quest to express the essence of their unique vineyard sites. It spends 22 months in barrel.
Taste: It comes on with stone fruit, lemon peel, and nectarine. The high notes in the aroma lead you to an array of flavors in the finish that are rounded off by light oak and minerality.
