Paloma Napa Valley Merlot 2016
Varietal: 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon (The addition of the Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure, rich fruit, and a subtle increase in tannins). Fermented and then aged in French oak—33% new—for 18 months before being bottled in the spring and bottle-aged for an additional 30 months.
Taste: Soaring out of the glass with gorgeous notes of rich, dark fruits that are dominated by blackberry & blueberry and complemented by subtle notes of anise, cocoa and bramble. The wine has a luscious mouthfeel with sweet tannins and beautiful ripe fruit on the mid-palate. While the alluring nose might tempt you to consume the wine rapidly, you will be rewarded if you allow the wine to evolve in the glass, revealing a long, silky, and spicy finish.
