Description

Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Roberts began experimenting with Trousseau in 2009, inspired by the light-bodied, high-acid reds of France’s Jura region. Seeking a counterpoint to the ripe, powerful styles dominating California at the time, they planted and sourced small parcels suited to this delicate grape. The result helped redefine modern California reds: fresh, transparent, and rooted in a sense of place rather than varietal power.

Varietal: 100% Trousseau

Sourced from a collection of cool, rocky vineyard sites across the North Coast, mostly in Mendocino and Sonoma counties, chosen for their elevation, poor soils, and coastal influence. The fruit is partially destemmed and fermented with native yeasts in open-top tanks, followed by aging in neutral oak to preserve aromatic purity.

Tasting Notes: Pale ruby and translucent, the wine opens with aromas of wild strawberry, red currant, and pink peppercorn. The palate is lithe and energetic, offering cranberry, orange peel, and savory herbs over fine, dusty tannins. A whisper of earth and minerality lingers on the finish, recalling Jura inspirations yet distinctly Californian in tone.
