What Creates Balance in a Wine?
Why does one wine feel vibrant and refreshing while another feels rich and powerful? What actually creates balance in the glass?
In this workshop we’ll break down what tasting wine actually means through a simple idea:
taste = aroma + flavor + mouthfeel
As we taste through several wines together, you'll see how these elements interact and how they shape the way a wine feels and tastes in the glass.
The goal is simple: leave with a clearer understanding of what you're tasting and why.
Workshop Overview
This workshop lays the groundwork for how we explore wine throughout the Wine Atelier series.
You’ll learn how to taste wine more intentionally, how to recognize structure, and how to understand what creates balance and quality in the glass. Along the way we’ll explore acidity, tannin, alcohol, body, and texture, and how these elements shape the experience of a wine.
Through guided tasting and comparison, you’ll begin to recognize patterns and build your own internal tasting framework.
This is the class that helps give you language, confidence, and a foundation for exploring wine more deeply.
This session is part of the Wine Atelier Foundations series, designed to help wine lovers build understanding through guided tasting. Each workshop explores a core concept that deepens your ability to taste, evaluate, and enjoy wine with greater confidence.
