Terroir

Batard-Montrachet sits on the slope between Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet, sharing the limestone-rich marl and clay soils that are the bedrock of white Burgundy's complexity. The vineyard's east-facing aspect and elevation give it excellent sun exposure balanced by good drainage and natural acidity. Those mineral, chalky soils are what you taste: citrus and stone fruit cut with a saline edge that keeps the richness in proportion.
