Description

In Short

A Chardonnay sparkling wine from Kent with brioche and citrus character, fine bubbles, and a dry mineral finish.

Quick Facts

  • Region: Kent, England
  • Variety: Chardonnay
  • Style: Sparkling
  • Best For: Aperitifs, celebrations

Why We Stock It

English sparkling wine has matured into something serious, and Gusbourne is among the producers leading that shift. This Blanc de Blancs shows the refinement you expect from cool-climate Chardonnay with the texture and complexity that comes from proper bottle age.

Tasting Profile

An elegant and mineral-driven sparkling wine with fine bubbles and creamy mouthfeel.

  • Aroma: Brioche, citrus, subtle stone fruit
  • Palate: Mineral-driven, creamy, fine bubbles, crisp acidity
  • Structure & Finish: Dry, persistent, green apple, toasted hazelnut

Winemaking

The wine is made from pure Chardonnay in the traditional method, with extended time on the lees to build complexity and that characteristic brioche character. Bottle fermentation and aging on the lees contribute to the fine bubble structure and creamy texture.

Serving & Pairing

Serve between 45 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit. The wine does not need decanting. This works beautifully as an aperitif on its own, alongside smoked fish and canapés, or with soft cheeses like Brie. The mineral precision and dry finish cut through rich or salty foods without overwhelming them.

The Estate

Gusbourne is a grower-producer in Kent, farming its own vineyards and making wine on-site. The estate was established to explore what cool-climate English viticulture could achieve, and it has become a consistent voice for quality sparkling wine from the southeast of England.

Terroir

Kent's chalky soils and southerly aspect provide the ripeness and acidity balance needed for sparkling wine production. The maritime climate, moderated by proximity to the Channel, keeps acidity high and sugars moderate, the precise conditions that suit the traditional method and Chardonnay-based blends.
