Why We Love It

“La Maggiorina” reflects one of Alto Piemonte’s historic vineyard systems where several varieties are planted together and trained in the traditional maggiorina canopy. The blend creates balance naturally. Instead of emphasizing a single grape, the wine expresses the site and the farming tradition that shaped it.

Winemaking

The wine comes from old vineyards in Boca planted in the traditional maggiorina system, a historic training method where vines are planted in a cross-shaped pattern and multiple varieties grow together in the same plot. Nebbiolo forms the backbone, while Croatina and Vespolina add fruit depth and aromatic lift.

The grapes are harvested and fermented together with native yeasts. Aging takes place in large neutral oak casks, which allows the wine to soften and integrate while preserving freshness and varietal character.

Petit Perspective: This approach emphasizes structure and transparency rather than extraction. Nebbiolo provides acidity and tannin, while Croatina and Vespolina round the wine with fruit and spice.

Serving & Pairing

Serve slightly cool to highlight the wine’s freshness. Excellent with mushroom dishes, braised meats, aged cheeses, or northern Italian cuisine like polenta with ragù.
