Description
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to travel throughout France, visiting eighteen producers across Champagne, Chablis, Burgundy, the Loire Valley, the Northern and Southern Rhône, Provence and Bordeaux. From the chalk cellars of Champagne and the limestone slopes of Chablis to the steep granite hillsides of the Northern Rhône and the historic estates of Bordeaux, the journey offered a deeper appreciation for the places, people, and traditions that make French wine so compelling.
At Petit Philippe, we believe that wine is ultimately about connection. There is simply no substitute for standing in the vineyards, walking through cellars, sharing meals with producers, and hearing firsthand the stories behind the bottles we pour. Those experiences shape not only our understanding of the wines themselves, but also the way we share them with our clients and friends.
On Thursday, June 18th, we invite you to join us for Passport to France, an intimate seven-course dinner inspired by this remarkable journey. Executive Chef partner Michael Bader has created a menu highlighting the diversity and character of each wine, while I will guide the evening by sharing stories and insights from the producers and regions visited along the way.
The evening's lineup spans some of France's most celebrated wine regions, with spotlights upon the notable pours from my trip:
- Champagne Lombard Premier Cru Extra-Brut Rosé NV
- Champagne Ayala Blanc de Blancs 2018
- Domaine William Fèvre Chablis 'Champs Royaux' 2023
- François Chidaine Chenin Blanc 2024
- Rotem & Mounier Bourgogne Rouge 2023
- Guigal Crozes-Hermitage 2021
- Château Lagrange Saint-Julien Grand Cru 2018
The evening begins with a reception at 6:00 PM, followed by a seated dinner beginning promptly at 6:30 PM. Wines will be poured progressively throughout the experience, allowing each course to build upon the last while showcasing the remarkable diversity found across France's great wine regions.
This promises to be a highly personal evening filled with exceptional wines, thoughtful cuisine, and stories/images gathered from an unforgettable journey through one of the world's greatest wine-producing countries.
