Featured at RoséFest 2026
Txomin Etxaniz was one of the most refreshing wines in the RoséFest lineup and one of the easiest to spot blind once you tasted the natural spritz and salty coastal character in the glass. Made in Spain’s Basque Country near the Atlantic Ocean, this rosé combines citrus, wild strawberry, fresh herbs, and sea spray minerality with the light natural fizz that defines traditional Txakolina. Why We Love It at Petit Philippe
We love Txakolina because there is really nothing else that drinks quite like it. The slight spritz, bright acidity, and salty Atlantic character make the wine feel incredibly alive and refreshing in the glass. It is also one of the wines in the lineup that most clearly reflects where it comes from. You immediately get the sense of cool ocean air, seafood, and coastal drinking culture the moment you taste it. That kind of identity is hard to fake.
Our Rosé Pick this Season
This is the bottle to throw in the cooler for the hottest days of summer. It is perfect for oysters, seafood towers, beach weekends, afternoon drinks outside, or anything where you want the wine to feel cold, salty, and refreshing. If you already love Albariño, Muscadet, or crisp coastal whites, this rosé becomes very easy to fall into.
Winemaking
Txomin Etxaniz farms steep hillside vineyards overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Spain’s Basque Country, where cool temperatures and ocean winds help preserve sharp acidity and freshness in the fruit. The wine is fermented at cool temperatures to maintain purity and the slight natural spritz that defines traditional Txakolina. The blend of Hondarrabi Beltza and Hondarrabi Zuri gives the wine its combination of bright citrus, delicate red fruit, and saline coastal character.
Serving & Pairing
Serve very cold, around 42–45°F. This wine is especially good with oysters, anchovies, shrimp, fried seafood, sushi, tapas, salty snacks, and anything pulled from the ocean. It also works beautifully as an aperitif because of the bright acidity and natural spritz.
Estate Overview
Txomin Etxaniz is one of the historic benchmark producers of Txakolina in Spain’s Basque Country, with roots dating back to 1649. The winery helped define the modern identity of Getariako Txakolina while preserving the traditional coastal style that makes the wines so distinctive. Their rosé captures everything people love about the category: bright acidity, Atlantic salinity, natural freshness, and effortless drinkability.
